Pre-class Checklist
Know your Southwestern College Student ID (SCID) number
Your Admissions Counselor provides you with your SCID shortly after enrollment. Please check your email for a “New Learner Checklist,” which will contain your SCID. You will use this number to access your records during your time at Southwestern. We recommend you keep it safe and accessible.
Access your SCKANS (student) email address
An SCKANS email address will be created for you and a confirmation will be sent to your primary email address. You should receive this within 3 weeks of the start of your first class. Keep an eye out for this email for instructions on how to log in.Please note some students choose to forward their SCKANS email to a preferred email so they don’t miss out on important correspondence and announcements. You can also view instructions on how to add your SCKANS email to your Apple or Android device.
Request your Self-Service Account
In order to request your account, go to Self-Service and click “Forgot Password.” Use your SCID as the “Username” and click “Send Email.” You will receive an email with a link to set your password.
Make a Payment in Self-Service
Once you have logged into Self-Service you will need to pay your bill before the first day of class. Log in and click on the “Finances” tab and then click “ePayment.” From there, you can view and pay your bill.

Order your textbooks online through BNC (formerly MBS Direct) as soon as you enroll in new classes.
