How do I get access to my SCKANS email address?

SCKANS emails for new students are generated about 3 weeks from the start of your first class. When it is available, information on how to access the SCKANS email address will be sent to the primary personal email address we have on file.

Password resets or changes for your SCKANS email address can be completed through this site. Follow the instructions on the screen to reset your password.

Blackboard FAQs

I can’t reset my password for Blackboard. I’m clicking reset password but nothing is happening. How do I reset it?

Password resets for Blackboard are sent to your SCKANS email address. Please be sure to check your SCKANS email address for the link to reset your Blackboard password.

I am putting in the correct ID and password into Blackboard, but it still says I don’t have an account. How can I access Blackboard?

If this is your first time accessing Blackboard: You should have received your Blackboard login information within the same email that contained your school email setup information. Please check your personal email account (including junk mail) to look for the e-mail if you don’t already have this information. It will contain your user ID (your SCID – no spaces or dashes) and password.
If you have previously access Blackboard: We’d recommend selecting the Forgot Your Password? link on the Blackboard login page to reset your password. This will initiate an email to your SCKANS email address with instructions for changing your password.

I don’t see my class in Blackboard. Am I enrolled?

Courses for the upcoming session are loaded into Blackboard and accessible at 8 am on the Thursday prior to the first day of the course, typically four days before the start of class. Please check back after that time to view your classes.

Self-Service FAQs

How do I verify my Self-Service account?

Self-Service allows you to verify enrollment, check your account balance and make payments. Go to selfservice.sckans.edu and login with the username and password that have been sent to your personal email address on file.

If I’m a returning student, do I need to reset my Self-Service password?

Yes. This summer the Southwestern College IT Department completed an upgrade of Self-Service which requires you to reset your password.

You can access the new Self-Service page at selfservice.sckans.edu or in the Quick Links drop-down at the top of the SC website.

When logging into the upgraded Self-Service for the first time, you will need to reset your password.

From the Self-Service login page, click the Forgot Password link and enter your Southwestern College ID number (without dashes or spaces). After submitting your ID number, you will receive an email from do_not_reply@sckans.edu containing a link to reset your password. Please follow the link in the email you receive to change your password to something memorable. Your new password must be at least 8 characters total and include a capital letter, lowercase letter, number, and special character.
