March 25, 2021 2:48pm

As an online learner at Southwestern College Professional Studies, you will be provided with a variety of academic resources to utilize as you work your way to graduation. One of the most beneficial of those resources is your academic success coach, who will help guide your educational path from start to finish. Here are just a few things you can expect your coach to do for you while you earn you degree online at SC.

Communicate throughout the duration of your education

From your very first class, you can count on your coach to be in communication with you about a variety of items that pertain to you and your experience as an online student. They will inform you of college policies and procedures, changes and updates to your catalog, and even tell you about upcoming events and educational opportunities. You may contact your coach by phone, email, or even a live Zoom chat session if you prefer. Communication will be key as you navigate your college journey from wherever you are, so be sure to stay in touch with your coach and inform them of your needs. They are here for you and are dedicated to your success!

Create and maintain your degree plan

Once all of your transcripts have been received, your coach will create a customized degree plan for you during your first academic session. This will serve as a roadmap to degree completion for you. Your coach will build a degree plan for you that ensures the fastest path to completion. This plan will map out every course you need for your degree and during which session it should be completed. And if you have obligations or specific educational needs that prevent you from taking a course during a specific time, your coach will make the modifications necessary to accommodate your life and schedule. Your degree plan will be updated every six months and remain available for you to view.

Provide educational support

Your coach is here to help you through your time as an online student whether you are having issues with a certain class or struggling to balance life and school. They are here to provide you with the resources you need to solve your issues. Your coach can connect you with a variety of helpful resources including the online Deets Library, Online Writing Center, registrar, billing, and financial aid to name a few. If events in your life have made it too difficult to juggle your coursework and you need to pause your progress, your coach will talk you through the process of taking a break and help you get back in class and on track when the time is right for you. During your time at Professional Studies, you can count on your coach to play a crucial role in your journey, serving as your supporter and guide as you finish your college education.
