Torben Dalstra

Wichita, Kansas – Southwestern College RN to BSN student Torben Dalstra has been awarded the Sigma Epsilon Gamma at-Large Chapter Nursing Student Leadership Scholarship. Dalstra is currently employed as a firefighter/paramedic with the Fort Carson Fire Department in Colorado Springs, CO and was recently promoted to captain. He is also employed part time as a flight nurse/field training officer at Peak Medevac in Centennial, CO, and as a critical care transport RN for Falck USA.

Dalstra expects to graduate from Southwestern College in November and begin working on his doctorate in nursing practice degree. Other future plans include playing an active role in the Air Surface Transport Nurse’s Association and sitting for his Certified Flight Nurse (CFRN) and Flight Paramedic (FP-C) exams. He hopes to focus on occupational medicine with an emphasis on first responder health and wellness.

“It is an honor that Torben was selected for the Epsilon Gamma at-Large chapter nursing scholarship out of five colleges in the Wichita area,” says Dr. Abbey Elliott, director of the Southwestern College RN to BSN program. “Torben is an excellent student and we are happy to have him at Southwestern College.”

Epsilon Gamma at-Large is a chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, representing five Wichita-area BSN-DNP awarding colleges and universities.
